Voices From Lebanon
Whose voice is heard when war breaks out? Whose stories remain after the headlines fade?
Israel’s second war on Lebanon in under two years displaced a quarter of the population, and killed nearly 3,000 people (Megaphone News). While breaking news of airstrikes and death tolls hit the headlines, the voices of those bearing the brunt of the conflict rarely reach audiences outside of the country.
Developed through a series of creative writing workshops, this series of monologues brings together personal reflections on loss, survival and collective memory. In their own words, participants across Lebanon bear witness to lives interrupted and communities enduring.
For one night only, Seenaryo present staged readings performed by Juliet Stevenson, Khalid Abdalla, Denise Gough, Ammar Haj Ahmad, Necar Zadegan, and more (to be announced). Featuring live music and a facilitated discussion with the actors, the night will explore the context and the role of art in times of war.
100% of ticket sales will go to Seenaryo’s theatre and play programmes, supporting mental health, shaping futures, and driving social justice, in Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine. There will also be an opportunity to support further on the night.
